Tally.
Calorie and protein tracking.
A simpler daily habit.
An app for iOS and Android, built because I wanted calorie tracking to feel fast, clear and enjoyable.
A look inside
The idea
Make the everyday action easy.
Tally started as a project for fun, and as a response to a personal gripe with calorie tracking apps I had tried. I wanted a simple tracker that was fast, well designed and enjoyable to use.
That became the guiding idea: keep the main interaction straightforward, with more detailed tracking available when someone wants it.
The experience
Simple by default. Detail when needed.
Enter the calories for a meal or food and keep moving. A food name and macro breakdown are optional, so a quick entry can stay quick.
Focus on today
The day's calorie total sits front and centre. A setting can show macros underneath for more granular tracking.
Room to go deeper
Advanced calorie goals and other options live in settings, keeping the everyday experience approachable.
What I learned
A better app, one build at a time.
Tally has been through around 50 builds, each bringing its own tweaks and improvements. Building it has shown me how much user feedback, rapid prototyping and continuous design iteration matter.
It has also reinforced the value of a long-term vision. Breaking that vision into small, manageable steps made it easier to keep moving and improve the app over time.
Tally is currently in TestFlight and Google Play beta.
